Degrassi Season 13 Preview

With the episode title of the season 13 premiere Summertime giving away that the premiere taking place during summer, EW confirms in the article that the one-hour premiere will take place during summer break:“Find out who travels to Paris, what new faces are stirring up trouble and whose relationship lands them in a spicy online exchange.” Season 13 begins on Thursday, July 11th at 9pm est on both MuchMusic and TeenNick.

BREAKING NEWS: Degrassi Season 13 Premiere Date Confirmed for TeenNick

News came out that the airdate for Degrassi Season 13 on MuchMusic was confirmed to be on Thursday, July 11th. A big question since then for a lot of the fans has been if TeenNick would also air Degrassi on Thursdays, that answer is yes officially according to the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly:

Degrassi Experience Interviews Stephen Stohn

Yesterday, Degrassi Experience uploaded an interview that they did with Stephen Stohn earlier in the week. You can watch the full video below also below I’ve summarized the key Season 13 info we got from the interview (there are no spoilers).

Important Season 13 information

Season 13 Info: New characters and episode titles is being held until the broadcasters announce the new actors. This statement like some other bloggers like KaryDegrassi and some fans confused me because I thought Epitome would release how the new characters are before the broadcasters, but you can expect none of this will come out until the season 12 finale in June. The Stohn did say that he might try to release the episode title for 1301 soon, so we'll see if those titles match with the titles we saw in Abby’s casting director interview. He said he has been taking pictures of all of the scripts/readthroughs, which he will post when its the right time.

New characters: The Stohn also said there will be three or four new characters who will have major roles in the summer block and some who will play more of  minor role in the summer block. Stohn also said there is one new main character who won’t appear until the fall block.

There will be no send off for Tori Santamaria: If you haven’t heard yet, Alex Steele isn’t returning to Degrassi for season 13 because she wants to pursue a film career. Stohn said they aren’t going to write off her character it sounds like they aren’t even going to try and explain her absence because they are hoping that Alex will return to the show in future seasons.

Party With Degrassi: There was no real update on this so far, Stohn has been saying that it’s up to the broadcasters to make that happen, but he did say that the premiere party in MuchMusic’s parking lot is pretty much going to happen again this year which will take place Friday, July 12th.

Degrassi Season 13 Possible Episode Titles!?!?!?

Earlier today Degrassi posted a video of Abby Ho interviewing Degrassi’s Background Casting Director, Krista Fraser. In the background there is a whiteboard with random Season 13 information and looking further into that one of the blocks says "1301-1304" with four song titles listed next to it. They’re assumed to be:

1301: Baby One More Time 

1302: Are You Gonna Go My Way

1303: All I Wanna Do 

1304: My Own Worst Enemy

We’ll have to wait and see if these episode titles are official, if they're confirmed, one of the big questions is are they ditching the two part episode format or are they doing an one hour episode format now. There is still a lot of info that hasn't been released yet like new characters etc Epitome has kept quiet about season 13 so far.

Degrassi Finale/Season 13 Premiere Dates and Season 13 On Set Info.

This news about the finale of season 12 and the premiere date for season 13 came out late last week, I decided to wait until now like other people to see if there was any changes before I posted it. MuchMusic is currently confirmed two things:

1. Degrassi’s Season 12 finale, The Time of My Life, is scheduled to air on Friday, June 21st.

2. Season 13 premieres on Friday, July 12th.

That July 12th date for the premiere isn’t a mistake it seems Stephen Stohn also said on Twitter that season 12 would be premierIng on Friday. Now with season 13 premiering on a Friday changes how Degrassi premiered because for the past three seasons 10, 11, and 12 both came on on the third Monday in July going from Monday-Thursday no news yet if this means Degrassi is stopping their telenovela or just changing how the telenovela comes on, also on the Degrassi twitter page there was a tweet hinting about airing on Fridays.

Degrassi Season 13 Filming Today

Filming for season 13 started filming today but unfortunately that's all the news that was released so far, Epitome has been keeping in about Season 13 under wraps because they don't want to reveal the new characters yet and also for any returning people that the fans don't know about yet but check keeping back on here for more Degrassi Season 13 info as it comes out.

Degrassi Season 13 News

Yesterday Stephen Stohn tweeted about Degrassi Season 13, Epitome has been keeping Season 13 information underwraps, Stephen Stohn hasn't been posting pics of the readthroughs which has also been going on for a couple of weeks now. The Stohn did tweet a quick explanation yesterday about Season 13:

Last year when news about Season 12 was coming out the new characters Cam, Dallas, Becky, and Luke were revealed at the first readthrough of season 12, not revealing the new characters yet maybe because last season they didn't have an graduation episode. They have already up to the readthrough for 1308, that also means filming for 1301-1304 has already started, Luke who also tweeted today about filming in a couple of days. There is no why to tell when the new characters will be announced. There is still the one-hour season 12 finale "The Time of My Life" coming in June and hopefully the season 12 finale being hold off until June doesn’t affect the TeenNick summer promo that always comes out in May

The promo for the Season 12 Finale The Time of My Life was released on Entertainment Weekly today just yesterday the plots for The Time of My Life was released. The promo shows different things to the seinors at graduation, prom, etc it looks like the senior are going out in style

In the promo for The Time of My Life  it mentions Season 13 nothing to big and it also confirms Season 13 will still be coming on in the summer but it says "Get Ready For The Next Chapter In Degrassi History"

Degrassi Episode Discription: The Time of My Life (The Season 12 Finale)

MuchMusic posted a press release with its network highlights for the month of April, and accidentally posted the episode description for the Season 12 finale, The Time of My Life:

Imogen can’t imagine saying goodbye to Fiona, and resorts to desperate measures to try keep them together. Clare attempts to move on with her life without Eli, while Mo wants to lock down a “bromance” with Jake before the summer.

They also say that the episode airs Friday, but that's incorrect because Zombie Part 2 airs tomorrow.  The Time of My Life will air as a one-hour episode sometime in June or July.

BREAKING NEWS: Alex Steele Leaving Degrassi!!!!

Alex Steele who plays Tori on Degrassi has revealed that she won't be returning for Degrassi Season 13 due to wanting to take on a new focus on pursing film Alex has said "I'm very proud of my time on Degrassi and feel very lucky to have worked with such an amazing cast and crew," , "I've decided to take on a new focus pursuing film. I have a few opportunities already in the works and am excited to get started!"

I'm wondering with the seniors leaving this season  how are they going to explain Tori suddenly leaving I most likely won't be a proper send off... What are your thoughts about this breaking news

Degrassi Season 12 Finale Airdate Changed

Big news Degrassians Stephen confirmed on Twitter that the one hour Season 12 finale of Degrassi titled "Time of My Life" airdate has been changed from April 12 to sometime in June or early July but he also has said that Degrassi Season 13 will still premiere in July.

Degrassi Nominated For Two Youth Media Alliance Awards

Degrassi is nominated for two Youth Media Alliance Awards!!! They have been nominated in Awards of Excellence for Best Television Program, All Genres, Teen Category for Never Ever Part Two and Award of Excellence Best Convergent App for the Degrassi Mobile Game. The Winners will be announced at an official awards gala in Toronto on May 28th.

Degrassi Episode Review: Karma Police

Fiona's Plot: Fiona plot had to deal with her feeling alone again as her roommate Drew moved out a went back home and she can't find no one so she starts to cling to Twitter.

      Fiona feeling lonely has a big part in this part with her roommate Drew moving out, and Imogen and Eli being busy with other things, Fiona feels like she has no one to turn too so she finds comfort in Twitter where she gets a lot of attention. Now you get a good feeling when people start following you, retweet, and reply to you on Twitter. With these thing happening on Twitter Fiona feels that she is not alone with Twitter. Fiona starts posting information about her on Twitter like  when she goes and comes from work, how she lives alone, and how she is a former rich girl she sees no problem with that but with her tweets it also shows her location but Fiona has no idea what that is.

Fiona's loft is broken into and she is rob now there is no proff that she was robbed by on of her followers in Twitter but you can assume maybe so because of her tweets telling her location so the person can know where she lives and if she is home or not. This plot shows the danger of posting too much info online in fact I know someone who has went through what Fiona has gone through in this plot. Fiona is traumatized by what has happen even though  she wasn't physically harmed  this plot showed how she is still scared and feels not safe because the robber wasn't caught and she feels that he can come back anytime. Fiona feels helpless and like there is nothing she can do and that he can come back at any moment with Fiona feeling like there is nothing she can do and feeling like there is no one to turn to she goes to desperate measures to make sure she is safe.

Fiona has to deal with everything that has happen all alone she it is understandable why she would do anything to make sure  she is safe by using a gun. By feeling the cops are not doing their job she goes to the shooting range to learn how to shoot she learns that she has to do a lot of things before she can own a gun which Fiona doesn't want to wait for because she feels that she needs protection right now. Fiona goes to a bad part of town and attempts to buy a guy from some thugs they lead her into this dark alley and she is robbed once again. Which I was kinda surprised Degrassi did but at the same time I wasn't.

It's understandable why Fiona was gullible at that moment because she was desperate this plot showed that people would do things that doesn't make sense like going into a dark alley with a bunch of thugs when they are scared feel helpless and desperate. Now with that scene Fiona tried to defend herself but failed and she spends the night in a hospital with this Fiona feels that she can now protect herself that she can stand on her own that she can't be scared forever. Now this was a little surprising due to the fact that Fiona spent most of the episode still scared because of the break in but it was also good because it showed that things would be ok after the fact of a break in.

I thought this plot was good on many points. Degrassi has had a lot of strong really great plots this season, so this plot I will give a B+

Zig's Plot: Zig's plot had to do with him feeling guilt from Cam's suicide, this plot had got a lot of good some fans thought that Zig was great and enjoyed the plot while some fans thought this plot wasn't needed which I disagree about.

Zig has grown a lot since he first came on Degrassi some people thought when he first came that he was  a waste of space that he wasn't really good but I like Zig he is one of my favorite characters he has changed since he first came he is showing more emotion and interaction from when he first came. With this plot Zig feels guilty for Cam's suicide and he is taking it out in anger dissing Tori and trashing Madame Jean-Aux car, he got detention for that and decided to make it up to her by singing a song for the French Club since a performer couldn't make it. Zig singing Zou Bisou Bisou was hilarious. Zig has no clue what the song means he dedicated the song to Madame Jean-Aux the song was about romance, which could of gotten both Madame Jean-Aux and Zig in trouble if people thought that they were having a romantic relationship, he storms out the classroom when the crowd laughs at him and when he finds out what the song really meant. Zig still feels guilty about Cam's suicide he he wants to make things right and doesn't want to hurt anyone else with his actions.

Zig gives a big apology to everyone he has hurt which was great. Zig has done some bad things like going after Maya while he was still with Tori etc, but he felt remorseful and give a public apology for what he has done. I think this plot was great it showed that Degrassi characters who have a good image or a bad image can't be always what you think they are. I give this plot an A.

Degrassi Season 12 Finale Episode Title Change

The episodes titles for the spring block of season 12 was released awhile ago by Stephen at the readthroughs it was shown that the finale of season 12 episode title was "It's The End Of The World As We Know It" but Stephen confirmed yesterday on Twitter that the title for the season 12 finale was changed to "The Time Of My Life".

Degrassi Episode Preview Discussion: Karma Police Part 1

Its friday which means none other than Degrassi Friday!!! I have been looking forward to this episode. The plots for this episode looks great with Fiona, Dallas, and Zig having the plots in Karma Police.  Fiona’s plot was accidentally spoiled at the readthrough for this episode but its not that bad with Fiona's plot Twitter will get her in trouble. Dallas plot with Alli and Vanessa comes with news. This plotline with Dallas was shown through promos I think it surprised a lot of people it surprised me because I never saw this coming for Dallas. Zig's plot looks like it shows how Zig is dealing with Cam's suicide by him taking it out in anger. But even though Fiona and Dallas plot was already spoiled I think Degrassians will still enjoy the episode.
